Treasurer; Chief Financial Officer, Los Angeles Master Chorale
Steven is a senior-level finance executive with more than 35 years of experience managing financial and administrative functions for highly respected financial services companies, ranging from start-ups to publicly held firms. He began his career in banking in Southern California, an experience that included consummating an initial public offering, managing Wall Street analyst and shareholder relations, and later selling the institution as part of the great banking consolidation of the late 1990’s.
Steven then served as chief financial officer for a Los Angeles-based commercial insurance brokerage with a long and proud history serving the agricultural sector in California. Its top-quintile profit margins made it attractive to a private equity firm, which acquired it as part of a hub-and-spoke brokerage-building strategy.
In 2015, he began an “encore” career in the non-profit sphere when he joined the Los Angeles Master Chorale as its first chief financial officer. Steven gets great personal satisfaction from applying his skills and experience in strategic planning, financial modeling, accounting and human resources functions on behalf of one of the country’s most dynamic and pioneering choral organizations. He is dedicated to improving financial literacy throughout his organization through clear, audience-appropriate communication.
Other non-profit experience includes serving as the Board Treasurer of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles from 2008 – 2011, an organization with which he continues to sing. Presently, Steven is honored to serve as Board Treasurer of VOX Femina Los Angeles.
Steven obtained his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
