On May 9, the National Endowment for the Arts announced the recipients of its second round of 2018 grants. We are excited to see many of our partners and choral organizations represented on the list of awarded grants in arts education, presenting and multidisciplinary works, and music, shown at the end of this announcement.
In this second round, over 1,000 grants totaling more than $81 million across all artistic disciplines will be awarded to nonprofit organizations in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and four U.S. territories. These grants support programs that provide jobs to artists, administrators, and other creative workers and arts experiences for millions of people.
“The variety and quality of these projects speaks to the wealth of creativity and diversity in our country,” said NEA Chairman Jane Chu. The NEA's full announcement can be found here.
Then on May 15, the House Interior Appropriations Subcommittee met to advance legislation that proposes a $2 million increase in funding for the NEA for FY 2019. This proposal of $155 million matches the request made by arts leaders from all 50 states at Arts Advocacy Day 2018 in March.
