Hurricane Harvey Information and Resources

Chorus America’s thoughts are with all those affected by the terrible destruction of Hurricane Harvey. We know that the communities in Harvey’s path include many choruses and artists.

We have been in touch with some of our friends in the Houston choral community, and will continue to reach out to contacts in Texas and Louisiana. As we are able to learn more about the best ways to support choruses and choral artists, we will continue to post information about how the Chorus America community can help.

Here are some resources available for artists and arts organizations:

• ArtsReady has posted a statement with resources for Texas arts organizations on its website. ArtsReady will continue to monitor the situation and post updates, including resources for Louisiana organizations coming soon.
• The National Endowment for the Arts is coordinating with the Texas Commission on the Arts and the Division of the Arts in the Louisiana Office of Cultural Development to assess the situation and those arts organizations hardest hit by Hurricane Harvey. As the current situation stabilizes, the National Endowment for the Arts is prepared to direct additional funds to these state arts agencies for re-granting to affected organizations.
• Houston mayor Sylvester Turner has established a Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund through the Greater Houston Community Foundation. Austin's Conspirare ensemble was part of a benefit concert on September 3 that raised over $31,000 for this fund.
• The Houston Arts Alliance has set up an Arts Recovery Fund and assistance site for both donations and resources for individual artists and organizations.
